The mechanical characteristics of plywood made from high-end Birch have made it a well known product in industries demanding mechanical resistance, stability and light weight.

Plywood is composed of 1.4 mm thick veneers by cross bonding. Face veneers can be both long grain and cross grain.
Grades
Grades of plywood Riga Ply are defined according to company’s technical specifications developed in accordance with SFS 2413, as well as on the basis of International Organization for Standardization 139. Technical Committee II Working Group quality requirements, recommendations and regulations on plywood with outer plies made of peeled birch veneers (1994). In some points, there are stricter and more specific quality requirements than in International documents:
B (I) – for high quality painting, staining and lacquering;
S (II) – for good quality painting, staining and lacquering;
BB (III) – standard grade (plugged), for interior paint finish and coating with transparent and non-transparent thicker overlays and films, and also veneering;
WGE – plywood of WG grade without open defects (repaired with filler), for coating with non-transparent finishing material;
WG (IV) – for use where surface appearance is not important, reverse grade.
Birch plywood provides excellent weight and strength ratio.
Further processing
Plywood Riga Ply can be processed in many different ways, including film overlaying, painting, lacquering, oiling, scarf jointing, machining, half lap, tongue & groove jointing etc.

Formaldehyde emission
In accordance with the standard EN 13986 formaldehyde emission meets the Class E1 requirements. Test method EN 717 Part 2.
Gluing classes
Birch plywood Riga Ply is bonded with a phenol resin adhesive which is weather and boil-proof and meets the requirements of the following standards:
EN 314 / 3 rd class;
BS 1203 / H4 (previously WBP);
DIN 68705 Part 3 / type BFU 100.
It is also possible to glue plywood with urea-formaldehyde adhesive resin (meets the requirements of BS 1203 / H1) and moisture resistant urea-formaldehyde adhesive resin which is modified with melamine (meets the requirements of EN 314 / 1rd class and BS 1203 / H2).
Long grain plywood panels with the length up to 2500 mm are also available. Cut to size panels and machining available in accordance with the customers’ requirements.
Size and right angle tolerance meets the standard EN 315 requirements.
